What is a Community Hub?

A Community Hub is a welcoming place where you can go to receive help, support and meet people. 



What is a Family Hub?

At the Family Hub you can meet a Family Navigator and have access to services and programmes such as parenting programmes, speech and language support, baby massage, infant feeding and many more services.



What is a Family Navigator?


Our Family Navigators in our Family Hubs help families find and use the services they need.  They can point you towards the support you are looking for, help with childcare, healthcare, housing and more.  Please email familynavigators@lbbd.gov.uk or telephone 020 8227 3359.



What help, advice and/or support can I get at a Community Hub?

We can help in many ways.

  • Housing and homelessness 
  • Health and wellbeing  
  • General council services  
  • Help getting online  
  • Money and debt advice  
  • Jobs, training and courses  
  • Events and activities  
  • Accessing food support 
  • Linking in with Family Hub services 

And many more! 



Can I just walk in to a Community Hub or do I need to book?

You can walk in to any Community Hub and speak to someone. Some of the activities and services may need to be booked, please check our Events & Activities page for more information.



What is available in a Community Hub?

We have a range of activities and services for everyone! Have a look at our Events & Activities page for more information.

Most of the activities are free. There may be a small charge for some of the activities. 



How can I find my nearest Community Hub?

To find your nearest hub, check out the map to find your nearest hub and the opening times.



Do we still have children centres and libraries?

Children centres are now Community and Family Hubs. There are a wide range of Family Hub services happening across the borough and libraries and Family navigators can be found in the following Community Hubs:

  • Dagenham Learning Centre
  • Barking Learning Centre
  • Marks Gate Community and Family Hub.



Can I run an activity in a Community Hub?

We would love for people to run activities in our Community Hubs, please check the Get Involved page to find out how.

Can I hire a space in a Community Hub?

Yes, we have a range of spaces available to hire in some of our Community Hubs. Check on your chosen hub page to find out more about space hire.
